Agios Stefanos und Agios Georgios
Die rauhe Küstenlandschaft im Nordwesten Korfus ist geprägt von steilen Felsklippen und zahlreichen kleinen Buchten, die jedoch nicht immer einfach zu erreichen sind. Eine Ausnahme machen die langen Sandstrände von Agios Stefanos und Agios Georgios, von denen vor allem letzterer zu den landschaftlich schönsten Stränden der Insel gehört.
The rugged landscape in the north-western part of Corfu is characterized by steep rock cliffs and numerous bays and coves which sometimes can be difficult to access. Two easy-to-reach exceptions however are the beaches of Agios Stefanos and especially Agios Georgios which is said to be one of the most scenic beaches of the island.
Agios Stefanos
Den besten Blick auf den langen Sandstrand von Agios Stefanos und die daran anschliessenden Klippen bei Avliotes hat man vom südlich gelegenen Fischerhafen. Etwa 3 km hinter den Felsen liegt Kap Drastis, das eine halbe Stunde zuvor noch in dichten Nebel gehüllt war.
The sandy beach of Agios Stefanos and the continuing limestone rocks near Avliotes are best viewed from the little fishing port south of the village. Cape Drastis, which had been covered in mist just 30 minutes before is located about 3 kilometers behind these cliffs.
Wenige Kilometer westlich der Küste befinden sich die Diapontinischen Inseln von denen drei zu sehen sind: Im Vordergrund Diaplo, links dahinter Mathraki und Othonoi rechts im Hintergrund über der rechten Inselhälfte.
The Diapontian Islands are located a few kilometers west of the coast. Three of them can be seen from the port: Diaplo the nearest with Mathraki and Othonoi behind.
Agios Georgios
Eine Strassenkarte kann nicht schaden wenn man in diesem Teil von Korfu unterwegs ist.
Using a road-map is always a good idea if you are travelling in this part of Corfu.
Am Strand von Agios Georgios findet man keine grösseren Hotelanlagen, deswegen war es hier Mitte Juli (2013) auch angenehm ruhig.
As there are no large hotel complexes near the beach of Agios Georgios we found it a pleasantly quiet place even in mid July (2013).
