Chlomos
Chlomos liegt auf einem Bergrücken zwischen dem Fischerort Boukari an der Ostküste und der Korrision Lagune im Westen. Wer einen Einblick in die korfiotische Lebensweise abseits der touristischen Zentren erhalten will, sollte sich einen Besuch in dem kleinen und weitgehend autofreien Ort nicht entgehen lassen. Die exzellente Aussicht, die man auch auf so mancher Postkarte findet, gibt es dabei als Zugabe.
Chlomos is located on a ridge between the fishing village of Boukari on the east coast and Lake Korrision. The picturesque and largely car-free village is giving an insight into the traditional way of living and is a worthwhile destination for those who want to experience Corfu off the beaten tracks. On top of this there is an excellent panorama including the postcard view of Chlomos.
Bei Linia - an der Hauptstrasse von Korfu nach Lefkimi - folgt man der kurvigen Strasse hinauf nach Chlomos, von wo man bereits einen schönen Blick zurück auf die Lagune und die Westküste hat.
At Linia a winding road is branching off the main road from Corfu to Lefkimi and just before reaching Chlomos there is a nice view back to Lake Korission and the west coast.
Im Dorf selbst gibt es zwei Tavernen (2013) und die in Stein gegossenen Spuren verraten schon, wo man gut essen und ganz nebenbei die Aussicht auf die Südostküste geniessen kann.
In the village itself there are two taverns (in 2013) and the paws cast in concrete are already indicating where there is a good place to eat including a nice view on the south-eastern coast.
Durch schmale Gassen spaziert man zu einem der schönsten Aussichtspunkte Korfus, bei der Kirche oberhalb von Chlomos. Von hier aus überblickt man eine grossen Teil der Insel, vom bergigen Norden bis zur Südspitze, wo man im Hintergrund noch die Insel Paxos erahnen kann.
Narrow alleys are leading to one of Corfu's finest lookouts, the church at the top end of the village. The magnificent view covers a great part of the island from the mountainous north up to the southern cape where the island of Paxos can vaguely be discerned.
